Get to know Leslie Ricketts, Kinesphere's new physical therapist.

Updated: Jun 3, 2021

"I hate seeing patients only make it 75% of the way to recovery. Let's go all the way," says Leslie Rickets, MPT, COMT, MCT.

Leslie Ricketts has been working in an outpatient orthopaedic setting since 2002. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Physiology from Drury University, prior to earning her Master of Physical Therapy from Rockhurst University.

Over the years, Leslie developed a special love for working with cervical spine, neck, and back patients. She is also highly skilled in treating issues of the hips, shoulders, and extremities.

"I enjoy variety and working with all kinds of patients. Whether you're an athlete, a weekend warrior, or living a sedentary lifestyle. It doesn't matter if you're in high school or you're 90. I like to be a specialist in everything."

For Leslie, patient care is a collaboration. She loves working with patients collectively towards their recovery.

"We're the professionals, but patients should be proactive in their care. It's a exchange of ideas between the patient and therapist. We're team, invested together, working toward a common goal."

Leslie also knows the same approach isn't going to work for every patient.

"I don't pigeon hole myself into just one style. When I grab my bag of tools, I implement what you need, whether it's manual therapy, neuromotor rehab, just understanding body mechanics and strengthening. It's about incorporating all the pieces to fit what you need."

When she's not in the clinic, Leslie prefers to be in the great outdoors. You can often find her hiking, kayaking, riding bikes, or fishing. She also loves spending time with her two kids and their dog.

Leslie starts at Kinesphere Physical Therapy June 8, 2021. Call us today at (816) 379-6899 to schedule.
